Amazon Prime Members Can Send Gifts Without an Address

October 5, 2021

The gift giving season is upon us. There are many warnings that sending gifts this holiday season will take much longer than usual. According to a GeekWire post, Amazon will now let Prime members send gifts without knowing the recipient’s address. All you need is the phone number or email address of the person receiving the gift. They don’t even need to be a Prime member, but there are some limitations.

The feature is currently only available when using the Amazon mobile app. Put an item in your cart and then select “add a gift receipt for easy returns” just like you would do for a normal purchase. When you go to checkout, Prime members will see a new option to “let the recipient provide their address.” If you put in an email address or phone number, the recipient will get a text message or email notification. They can then enter a physical address for delivery or exchange the item for an Amazon gift card. The purchaser will not be notified if the recipient selects the exchange option.
