SYSTEM Control Panel Hidden in Windows 10 20H2

October 26, 2020

Troubleshooting Windows just got harder in Windows 10 20H2. That's because the SYSTEM control panel is hidden in the latest version of Windows 10. The SYSTEM control panel gives you all sorts of technical information about the installed version of the operating system such as the computer name, workgroup, memory, bit-type of the operating system, etc. Now, if you try to access the SYSTEM control panel, you will be redirected to the new 'About' page. The new page includes some (but not all) of the technical details you would find in the SYSTEM control panel.

Not to worry. Bleeping Computer has a post with instructions on how to access the SYSTEM control panel in Windows 10 20H2.

  1. Minimize all the open windows so that you can get to the Windows Desktop.
  2. Right click on the Desktop and select New -> Shortcut.
  3. When the Create Shortcut window opens, paste explorer shell:::{BB06C0E4-D293-4f75-8A90-CB05B6477EEE} into the field and click Next.
  4. Type SYSTEM to name the shortcut and click Finish.

You can also get to the SYSTEM control panel by searching for SYSTEM from the Start Menu.
