Brave – Another Browser for Your Toolkit
November 14, 2019
Brave is a privacy-focused browser and just came out of beta with its 1.0 version. It is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. The Verge reports, "Brave promises to prioritize security by blocking third-party ads, trackers, and autoplay videos automatically. So you don't need to go into your settings to ensure greater privacy, though you can adjust those settings if you want to."
Let's face it. Ads on websites are annoying. That's why there are so many choices for ad blockers. Brave is taking a different approach to controlling ads. It's Brave Rewards program gives users blockchain tokens when they opt in to Brave Ads. TechCrunch stated, "As users view these ads, they start earning Basic Attention Tokens (BAT), Brave's cryptocurrency, which they can keep or give to publishers." In other words, if you opt-in, you get paid for viewing the ads. There is also a built-in ad blocker if you don't want to view the ads.
