Your MacBook Pro May Not Be Allowed to Fly
August 29, 2019
Apple recalled the 2015 MacBook Pro because the battery "may pose a fire safety risk." In other words, the battery may explode. Not a comforting thought if you are on an airplane. Actually, it's not a comforting thought no matter where you are. Airlines reacted by banning any MacBook Pro that didn't have the battery replaced. I'm still not sure how the airlines will enforce that policy. The situation has worsened. Some airlines are banning the MacBook Pro from flying, whether it is carried on or packed in your checked luggage, even if the battery has been replaced. The Verge reports that Virgin Australia and Quantas are banning the laptops. Quantas stated, "Until further notice, all 15-inch Apple MacBook Pros must be carried in cabin baggage and switched off for flight following a recall notice issued by Apple."
Perhaps it's a good time to disconnect and read a book.
