Another Spam Attack Targeting Office Users

June 10, 2019

Microsoft is warning users to be aware of a recent active attack. The attack infects a user just by opening an attached document. Microsoft is warning that they have detected an active campaign that contains RTF attachments utilizing the Microsoft Office and Wordpad CVE-2017-11882 vulnerability. The vulnerability was patched in 2017, but the attacks continue. Shocker, but apparently people haven’t installed the patches. The first warning should be getting the RTF attachment. That is not a normal type of file most users get. Be suspicious if you get one, especially if you were not expecting it. Besides that, patch your computers.
