Another Critical Patch from Microsoft for Remote Desktop Services
May 15, 2019
You know who you are. All of you out there running unsupported Windows operating systems should at least install the latest patch from Microsoft. Upgrading your OS is the better option, but since you’ve dragged your feet this long, we know that’s not happening in the near future. PCWorld reported that Microsoft “warned users to apply a critical patch for a remote code execution vulnerability that could open older versions of Windows to attack.” The vulnerability is WannaCry-like and can spread without any user interaction. The security update is applicable to Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 also received critical updates for the reported vulnerability.
The later versions of operating systems are not impacted. Yet again, another reason to upgrade. If you are still running an end-of-life operating system, patch today…upgrade tomorrow.
