Another Nail for the LastPass Coffin

June 28, 2023

Our sincere sympathies if you are still using the LastPass password manager. There have been multiple data breaches at LastPass over the past several years. It’s not a good thing if the company you are entrusting your login credentials to can’t keep the data secure. Bleeping Computer reported on the latest experience from hell for LastPass users. Apparently, there was an upgrade at LastPass which required a reset of MFA for users. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well for numerous users. They were locked out of their accounts and couldn’t access their data even after successfully resetting their MFA application (e.g., LastPass Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator). To make matters worse, users couldn’t contact technical support since access requires you to be in your account in the first place. Talk about going in circles.

If you haven’t ditched LastPass yet, it may be too late. If you are a current LastPass user and can access your password vault, quickly export the data and start using a different password manager.
