Attention to Detail – Unlink Accounts Before Deleting Apps
January 8, 2020
It doesn't take any time at all to delete an app from your phone. While it is simple and easy, deletion doesn't necessarily mean that your data won't continue to be accessed. Some apps continue to access your linked accounts even if they are not installed on your device. You probably don't remember what permissions you gave to the app when you first installed it or even read the terms of service that you agreed to.
Lifehacker warns that some companies may hold onto your personal data, especially if accounts are linked. It is not uncommon for some apps to allow access using your Google or Facebook account. Yet another reason to create a separate account for the app and not use linked logon credentials. The steps will vary, but generally you should unlink any account sharing first before clearing your account information and removing the app.
