Evil Lightning Cable Coming Soon to Hak5
October 3, 2019
Hak5 has some great tools for penetration testing. They are probably best known for selling the Wi-Fi Pineapple, which intercepts Wi-Fi connections with a man-in-the-middle attack. They will soon be selling the O.MG cable.
The O.MG cable is a malicious Lightning cable that looks just like any other cable used to connect to your iPhone or iPad with one huge difference. As described by Naked Security, "Embedded in it is a tiny Wi-Fi transceiver that can operate as an access point or a wireless client. When the victim plugs it into their computer, an attacker within radio distance can connect to the cable with a mobile app and use it to manipulate the computer." In other words, an attacker can remotely access the connected device from up to 300 feet away.
I don't know how much the O.MG cable will cost, but it will definitely be a welcome addition to my penetration tools to supplement the Pineapple.
