Find Your Mouse with Microsoft PowerToys

February 2, 2022

There is a lot of hype these days about Windows 11. Our own recommendation is to hold off upgrading to Windows 11 for now. Despite all the marketing hype, the Register reports that there is a new version of Microsoft’s PowerToys that you should really install. The new version is 0.55 and contains dozens of components to enhance the Windows experience. There are File Explorer add-ons for the STL file format and an “Awake” utility to customize keeping your computer running without screwing around with power and sleep settings.

In the office, I run with three monitors (I’ll never go back to two). On occasion, I can’t find the mouse cursor. There are two mouse utility features that are a godsend. Pressing the left side <CTRL> key twice will light up a spotlight focus for you to find the mouse. By default, pressing <CTRL> + <ALT> + P will bring up red cross hairs for the mouse pointer. Hit the key combination again to make the crosshairs disappear. Either key combination let’s you quickly find the mouse cursor, especially with multiple monitors.
