iPhone Users – Protect Your Data from Thieves
June 6, 2023
Smartphones just happen to be small computers that have the ability to make a phone call. At least that’s how most people use them. Mobile phones are used for a multitude of purposes and store a lot of personal data. Protection of that data should be top of mind. If you are an iPhone user, Lifehacker has a post with 10 security settings to protect your personal data.
- Set a longer passcode
- Enable Find My
- Move away from iCloud Keychain
- Use your Apple Watch to lock the iPhone
- If your phone is stolen, enable Lost Mode
- Limit access to features from the Lock Screen
- Set an additional lock for apps with sensitive data
- Use Screen Time restrictions to good effect
- Put a passcode on your SIM card
- Enable lockdown mode when you’re in unsafe places
Some users may feel that several of these settings get in the way of using their phone. There is always a tug-of-war between convenience and security. Ditching Keychain and using a separate password manager is good advice. Don’t forget about enabling MFA everywhere it is available, which should have been one of the items on the list.
