Microsoft Kills Cortana for iOS and Android

August 3, 2020

Microsoft's voice assistant, Cortana, has had a tough time trying to replace more popular voice assistants Siri and Google Assistant. Those days will soon be over. In a post on Android Police, Microsoft has announced it will no longer support Cortana on Android and iOS devices. Support will end in early 2021. Cortana skills from third parties will end on September 7th. Microsoft stated that Cortana will transition into more of a productivity assistant. The newly focused Cortana will still be available on Android via the Teams and Outlook apps. I'm sure there are probably a handful of Cortana users out there that are not Microsoft employees, but generally nobody is going to lose any sleep with the drop of support.
