Microsoft Releases Updates Supporting Hybrid Work

March 17, 2022

Some form of the hybrid work environment is pretty common today. It’s becoming harder and harder to know if someone is physically in the office or working from home. Many vendors are modifying their applications to support the hybrid workforce. The Verge reports that Microsoft updated PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook to be hybrid work ready. A new Outlook RSVP let’s you identify if you’ll be attending a meeting virtually or in-person. It looks like the Gmail work location feature is a bit more comprehensive, but it is a step forward for Outlook.

Teams gets a layout update to Teams, “which moves the video gallery to the bottom of a screen so people physically in meeting rooms can see remote colleagues face to face.” PowerPoint gets an update too. “The new cameo and recording studio features of PowerPoint are now being combined together. Cameo lets you integrate a Microsoft Teams camera into your presentation slide deck, and recording studio lets you record yourself speaking to any slide.” There are several other updates as identified by The Verge.
