No Brainer – Turn on 2FA Now!
July 21, 2020
Numbers don't lie, although conspiracy theorists will argue otherwise. For years we've been telling people that they should turn on 2FA for ANY account access. Microsoft has some hard numbers to support using 2FA. As How-To Geek reported, Microsoft tracks the accounts of over 1 billion active accounts each month. To put in perspective, the monitoring generates over 30 billion login events. In addition, Microsoft blocks 300 million fraudulent sign-in attempts every day.
There is some good news though. Microsoft's analysis of the login data shows that 99.9 percent of hacked Microsoft accounts didn't have 2FA enabled. Is that a big enough number for you? In other words, if you have 2FA enabled, you would be in the 0.01 percent category. That's a pretty small number and not a statistic to make you purchase a lottery ticket, but it is a good number to tell you that 2FA is a really good idea.
