No More Sales of 32-bit Windows 10 Systems
May 14, 2020
Why anyone would want to purchase a new system with a 32-bit operating system is beyond me. Apparently, Microsoft feels the same way. The Register reported that Microsoft will no longer allow original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to pre-install a 32-bit Windows 10 operating system. It's not a big concern as Bleeping Computer quoted a report (Steam Hardware & Software Survey: April 2020) that identified only 0.20% of systems are running 32-bit Windows 10, while 86.08% are running 64-bit Windows 10.
That doesn't mean Microsoft will no longer support the 32-bit systems. It just means users will not be able to purchase new computers with 32-bit Windows 10. Microsoft's announcement doesn't mean the death of 32-bit applications either. They will run just fine on a 64-bit system.
