Patch Your Apple Devices Now

May 25, 2021

It’s not just Windows. Apple has vulnerabilities too. Shocker, but some are even zero-day flaws. If you are an Apple user, make sure you apply the latest updates now. As reported in The Hacker News, Apple has released security updates for Safari, macOS, iOS, tvOS and watchOS. The updates include fixes for an actively exploited zero-day flaw in macOS Big Sur and expanding two previously released zero-day flaws.

One specific fix deals with malware seen since August 2020 that is propagated via modified Xcode IDE projects hosted on GitHub repositories. Researchers stated, “The exploit in question could allow an attacker to gain Full Disk Access, Screen Recording, or other permissions without requiring the user’s explicit consent — which is the default behavior.” The malware inherits permissions from installed apps such as Zoom, Discord, WhatsApp, Slack, TeamViewer, Upwork, Skype, and Parallels Desktop.

Bottom line…patch your systems today.
