Price Increase for Google Workspace
March 15, 2023
Google announced ChatGPT for Gmail and Google Docs yesterday. The bigger news for most users was reported by Ars Technica. The monthly cost of Google Workspace is increasing by 20%. The last I checked, that’s a bit more than the inflation rate. In addition, Google is launching an annual billing option. Shocker, but the monthly cost of the annual plan is the same as users are currently paying. In other words, Google wants you to commit to an annual payment to keep your costs flat.
It looks like pricing will change for existing users over the next year, but it is unclear when. As Google stated, “the new pricing will roll out starting in April of this year and through 2024, depending on factors that include number of user licenses, current contract terms, and payment plan. For example, pricing for existing Google Workspace subscriptions with 10 or fewer user licenses will not change until January 2024.”
