Reset User Options in Word

August 20, 2019

Word is acting weird. You can't figure out why Word is changing things you didn't want changed. How do you reset everything back to default? There really isn't a reset button for Word, but you can get the user options and registry back to a default setting. The first (and easiest) solution is to run Microsoft's Easy Fix Wizard that automatically resets Word's user options and registry settings for you. Go to the "easy fix" section of Microsoft's Troubleshooting page and select the "download" link. Close all Office applications and run the downloaded file.

The post has instructions on how to reset registry entries too. Make sure you backup the registry and know what you are dong before attempting registry modifications.
