Save Articles to Read Later in Chrome

February 1, 2021

There are many times when you are doing research or following a story that you stumble across some interesting bit of information you would like to investigate further, but not now. Typically, you would then bookmark the page and try to remember to come back at a future time. Following that process just tends to fill up your bookmarks with items you never get back to. So much for good intentions.

Lifehacker reported that Chrome now has the ability for you to save a page in a “Read Later” section apart from your normal bookmarks. You will have to turn on the feature if you want to try it out. If you are using Chrome on a desktop, just navigate to chrome://flags/#read-later and enable the option. You will have to restart Chrome to activate the feature. You add the web page to the “Read Later” list by clicking on the star in the URL bar just like you would add a regular bookmark. From there just click on the “Add to reading list” choice. To come back to the reading list, click on the “Reading list” icon in the upper right corner of the browser.
