Verizon Samsung Galaxy S9, S10 and S21 Series Gets Update

January 25, 2021

If you own a Galaxy S9, S10 or S21 series phone on Verizon’s network, expect to see a big update shortly. Android Police posted information about the January Verizon update. The post identifies when the update was released for a bunch of Galaxy phones. The update is rather large and updates your phone to the latest Android OS 11. As Verizon stated, “…new features including Conversations, Bubbles, Categorized Notifications, and One UI 3.0. It also introduces Samsung Free, a new media and entertainment service that replaces Samsung Daily.”

It took about 15 minutes for the update to install on my phone. That means you are out of business during the update process. Don’t try to access any service that uses 2FA since you won’t get a text message code or have access to your MFA app during the update process. The immediate thing I noticed was the change in the notifications panel. The interface is cleaned up quite a bit.

If you are impatient and want to manually install the update, just go to Settings -> System updates -> Check for system updates.
