Windows 10 Needs More Disk Space

April 29, 2019

Why is it that you get less capacity for a disk drive than the advertised size? As an example, you buy a 500GB drive and it shows a capacity of around 465GB. It’s not really smaller, but about how a computer calculates storage space. It starts to really get aggravating when you start installing software applications not to mention the operating system itself. Well, Windows 10 users will have less user storage available with the next release of the operating system/. The new release will not require an additional 12GB-16GB of storage according to Microsoft’s minimum hardware requirements. Some of the addition space is to allow for future updates and some is because of additional/improved features. How-To-Geek has a good post describing everything new in the Windows 10 May 2019 Update.
